How to make a "Wing"

What you will need:

• 36' or 48" (48" needed for semicircle) 3/8" wooden dowel (or to preference)
  
• 10' - 12' fishing rod (if wing/flag combo)
• Sandpaper (sand dowels to desired smoothness)
  
• Scarf (the 5mm China Silk 35x84 and 45x108 all work well) - you will either want to order them with the "wing" or "wing/flag combo" seam in place, or you will need to sew a pocket in the scarf like the black line indicates in the image below:

Then simply insert a dowel into the closed pocket and enjoy!
