In the Palm of His Hand
8mm China Silk 11x11 (2) and 8x54
25 December 2006

A friend of mine asked me to make prayer cloths for a woman at our church. All she had heard from the Lord on them was "prayer cloths" and "three".

Step-by-step representation of how a scarf named 'In the Palm of His Hand' was madeWhat the Lord showed me was two square prayer cloths set next to each other and overlapping with a small scarf prayer cloth folded in half laying above the two squares but slightly overlapping the first two (See image 1 on the left). The three squares representing the woman, her husband and baby daughter - the squares had to be touching because they are connected - a family, intertwined - unity. Hers was the larger cloth because she's been given an extra portion - more is being required of her, but more has been given.

Picture of scarf named: In the Palm of His Hand - while it was being dyedNext the Lord had me paint my left hand in red dye - red representing Blood of Jesus and His covenant of grace. The hand was at the center where the three cloths touched and had to be touching all of them - His hand rests on them all. (See image 2 on the left)

Then He had me add light blue rays coming from the hand area representing the Holy Spirit and the washing with the Word (See image 3 on the left). Next, He had me seal it in with purple, the promises of God (See image 4 on the left). The three parts had to be steamed together (going through the "fire") and rinsed together (again washing with the Word).

The scarves were arranged again as they were created and oil was put on my palm and my palm put on the red hand. The names of these clothes are In the Palm of His Hand.

Later, the woman shared some of her scarf story. She and her husband were going through some very difficult times. He was turning his back on God, but he had a praying wife - and the power of her prayers couldn't be denied.

His wife spent many hours in her bible each day being washed in the word - she would press in and intercede for her husband and her home as the Holy Spirit would lead, pleading the blood - the covenant of grace - over the home and family. As a result of her prayers, there were many miracles in their life - one example was that when a massive storm had blown through uprooting even her neighbors' trees, not even her lawn chairs were turned over! It was a physical impossibility - even her husband couldn't deny that her prayers were heard and answered! She was able to "feel" the fact that she was "in the palm of the Lord's hand" and continues to pray for restoration in her marriage - now with a tangible reminder - a promise - that she is resting in the palm of His hand.

And as if that wasn't enough... God is so attentive to every last detail! A few weeks earlier, the woman had been watching a Christian talk show and had simply said, "I wish I had a prayer shawl" - this explained why it was two prayer cloths and one scarf! She was so blessed to get such a personal, intimate prayer shawl with her Daddy's finger prints all over it.
