Fabrics Details

We use several different types of silk: 5mm and 8mm China Silk, Chiffon, a Silk/Wool Blend (that works well for men), and Velvet (which is a rayon/silk blend). They come in a variety of different sizes. Please note that the sizes are approximate and may vary a bit. If you don't see a size you're interested in, please contact me.

Most scarves have hems that are hand rolled and sewn, and some have a serged edge. Periodically (if I miss it), you'll see a thread, just gently trim it and you are good to go. It should be noted that it's natural for silk to have some surface variations - it's the nature of 100% silk fabric - and should be expected.

China Silk and Chiffon Uses

The 5mm China Silk is a beautiful, flowing fabric that looks gorgeous in motion - even people who aren't dancers will have a desire to move when they have one of these - they are amazing to watch. Although largely dance veils, the smallest size (35x84) can be worn around the neck, over the shoulder, or as a prayer shawl because the lighter weight compacts to a reasonable size (it's actually my favorite scarf now). These can also be used to create billows or "wings".

The smaller 8mm China Silk scarves have lots of great uses. The 11x11 and 6x24 both make great prayer cloths. The 8x54, 11x60 and14x72 work really well as hair scarves and can even be used as sashes. They also work well as silk streamers.

The Chiffon and larger 8mm China Silk make great every day scarves, prayer shawls and can be danced with as well. The larger square 8mm China Silk scarves can also be used as flags.

Silk Blends

We have soft and luxurious feeling velvet scarves that have an uncut silk smooth back side combined with the rayon velvet. These are beautiful to the touch and result in lovely rich colors - they make cozy winter scarves.

We also carry a Silk/Wool blend that makes a nice scarf for men. It has a slight texture and does not have the same sheen the China Silk has or the flowing movement both the China Silk and Chiffon have. It takes dyes a bit differently from the China Silk since the dye doesn't move on the surface - similar to Chiffon. See an example on the dyeing page.

Sizes and Uses

Although these scarves have many uses, simply wearing these scarves throughout the day is an awesome reminder to keep your eyes focused on Him. In addition, these scarves are wonderful tools for spiritual warfare and expressive worship. Lots of ways to enjoy them! See how others are using them and see some examples.

Visit the Size Overview to see the relative shapes/sizes of the scarves and possible uses for each of them as well as pictures of each size.

All scarves arrive either tied with a ribbon or in a matching or coordinating silk bag with a card attached with the scarf's name (if it has one).
